“Therefore, as we build, let us think that we build forever.”

1989-1996

Business commences in New Delhi with duty-free supplies to the diplomatic and consular corps, UN agencies, shipchandlers, hotels and privileged expatriates. The product range comprises food (packaged, canned, fresh and frozen), beverages (wines, spirits and non-alcoholic), household goods (furniture, electronic appliances), personal care (perfumes and cosmetics).

1994:

Import, warehousing and distribution operations are established in Goa, utilizing Marmagoa (formerly Vasco-da-Gama) Port. The Goa office and warehouse are situated in a prime area within a 5 km radius of the airport, seaport and railway station. The facility serves hotels, restaurants, foodservice institutions and shipchandlers throughout Goa state and the port city of Karwar.

With the advent of liberalization and the Government of India’s decision to include food and beverage products in the Open General Licence category in 1997, the private limited entity Asha Nath (Warehousing) Pvt. Ltd. – ANWPL – is formed and its business modified from duty-free to duty-paid supplies on an all-India basis.

1999:

ANWPL expands its business by constructing a warehousing facility, compliant with Euro norms, in Belgaum, Karnataka (approximately 150 kms inland from Goa). Located on a private estate 2500 feet above sea level, the warehouse, surrounded by orchards and greenery, is naturally cool, well-ventilated and maintains stringent standards.

2006-2008:

ANWPL launches warehousing operations in Bangalore to serve clients in Bangalore and its suburbs as well as in other cities and towns in Karnataka state including Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli, Dharwar and Bellary. Bangalore is a prominent industrial and IT centre whose rapidly growing middle-class comprising young, aspiring professionals constitutes a significant market for international products.

Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad are selected as warehousing hubs to supply the increasing number of Indian and multinational clients in Tamilnadu, northeast India and Andhra Pradesh.

Chennai has traditionally been a base for expatriates working in the tea and coffee plantations as well as the engineering sector. The Chennai warehousing facility also consigns goods to Coimbatore, Madurai, Pondicherry, Ooty and other small towns in the state.

Kolkata is the gateway to the northeast of India. The Kolkata warehouse supplies shipments to Asansol, Burdwan, Durgapur, Siliguri and further destinations in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura. Kolkata also represents a central supply point for the states of Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim and the kingdom of Bhutan.

Hyderabad, bridging the conservative and modern, is a model of industrial and IT expansion. The Hyderabad office and warehousing facility sustains supply to the twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad, Nellore, Rajahmundry, Guntur, Vizinagram, Vijayawada and to the ports of Kakinada and Visakhapatnam.

2010:

A cold chain facility – refrigerated and frozen product storage – is set up in the city of Belgaum, north Karnataka to supply dairy products, cheese and delicatessen products to the distribution centres in Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

2011:

The traditional business is enhanced by creating value addition in terms of growing fresh produce – fruit, vegetables, pulses – on Ashanand Farm, a privately owned property comprising upward of 160 acres of prime farming acreage, located between Belgaum in north Karnataka and Goa at an altitude of 2500 feet above sea level. Mango, chikoo, cashewnut and coconut orchards cover the bulk of the estate while vegetables – green chillies, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, broccoli, lettuce, celery, okra, red cabbage, squash, cauliflower, green beans, brinjal, capsicum and jalapeno peppers; herbs – parsley, thyme, rosemary and oregano; pulses – yellow pigeon peas, mung and groundnuts are grown on a seasonal basis.
